April 21, 2015, all websites that are mobile-friendly will be ranked higher by Google.
These are websites that are made for mobile phones and other mobile devices.

HSo it means that your website, if not responsive of adaptive will be ranked lower when searching from a mobile device. Search results on desktop and (for now) tablets will not be affected by this update from Google.

Example

For example, did your website first rank 1 for the keyword “shoes Alphen aan den Rijn”, but is it not suitable for mobile devices? Then there is a good chance that your website will retain this number 1 position for the search performed from a desktop, laptop or tablet.
However, when searching for “shoes Alphen aan den Rijn” on a mobile device, your competitor with a mobile-friendly website will now probably be at the top.
