Milcraft creates websites that can be viewed on all known, recent browsers. This includes Google Chrome, Edge, Safari (IOS) and Firefox.
We do not support browsers such as Internet Explorer and Safari for Windows because we believe that this would be a disservice to the customer and visitor. Internet Explorer has already been replaced by Microsoft by Edge, the new default browser of Windows 10 and 11, and is no longer supported since June 15, 06. Safari for Windows is no longer supported by Apple at all.
Always make sure the browsers are on the latest version. This is not only for the correct display, but also that your system remains in order in terms of security.
Windows XP and Windows 7
Internet Explorer 7 and 8 are versions that can simply be updated to the latest version of Edge in Windows Vista and later.
Updating to a recent version of IE is no longer possible in Windows XP and from January 7, 2020 also no longer possible for Windows 7.
Windows XP and Windows 7 are no longer supported by Microsoft, which means that security holes can no longer be closed.
Safe internet browsing on a laptop or computer with XP is therefore no longer possible.

Many WordPress templates are Retina Ready these days. Retina is Apple's new type of screen since the Apple 4s.

What does a sitemap do and what is its use?
You have two types of sitemaps:
- for visitors
- for search engines such as Google.
The sitemap for visitors is an overview page with all the links on the website that are important to the visitor. The search engine sitemap works differently.
The purpose of a sitemap for search engines is to offer all your pages as clearly as possible to search engines such as Google and Bing. This is important if the website is indexed.
Google and other search engines attach great importance to a sitemap. The website will not rank higher in Google, but it usually contributes to easy and fast indexing of a website. Also, more pages will often be indexed by search engines.
There are several ways to avoid having to create and maintain a sitemap yourself plugins available.
For WordPress these are free to use plugins such as Google XML Sitemaps or as part of the plugin SEO by Yoast. The latter is preferred when using Yoast.
This plugin ensures that new pages are automatically added to the sitemap and keeping it up to date is therefore automatic. However, it must be set in advance which pages should be indexed and how often.
It is true that a sitemap is only useful for websites with many pages and/or blog posts.
The fact is, Google likes a sitemap and that's usually a good reason for website owners to do it.
A redirect is a reference to another URL. For example, if you have a new domain name, you would like www.domeinnaam.nl/diensten to point to www.nieuwedomeinnaam.nl/diensten. Visitors from Google will then not end up on an error page, but on your new page.
A plugin is an add-on or addition to an existing piece of software such as a Content Management System like WordPress to add an extra feature. Consider a plugin to add an agenda or photo gallery. But a complete online store is also possible.

For the email in our hosting packages, you can set one email address per package as a catch-all email address. This email address will then receive all emails sent to email addresses that have not been created.
For example: info@uwmilcraftdomeinnaam.nl is actively used. If someone accidentally makes a typo and sends an email to nfo@uwmilcraftdomeinnaam.nl then this email will arrive at the email address that is set as a catch-all email address.
A useful function in itself, but it is a disadvantage with this function. This can cause more spam, because all random email addresses can then be used.
An email to the random email address 123456789@uwmilcraftdomeinnaam.nl then arrives in the inbox of the catch-all email address.
A backdoor is a piece of code to gain access to a computer, website or network outside security systems. Such a backdoor is often closed malware posted or by a hacker. There are also backdoors that are added by the developers themselves.
Most domain name extensions such as .nl are registered for you as quickly as possible. In most cases you will receive an email with confirmation within 24 hours. If this is not the case, please contact us via ticket system or call us on 0172-897789.

The slice chart shows the number of new visitors vs. the number of returning visitors.
These emails may have ended up in your spam box because these messages were incorrectly seen as spam by your email program or by the provider of an email account, for example Gmail.com or Outlook.com. If this happens, it usually happens with free mail services and with the automatically sent emails from Milcraft.
You can often indicate in your email program that our email address is “No Junk Email” or an option of similar effect.
.NL is the extension of the Netherlands and can be registered by anyone. There are currently more than 5 million .NL domain names registered. With the domain checker on our website you can easily check whether the domain is available.
For .NL domains, a minimum number of characters is 2 and a maximum of 63. There is a minimum number of characters of 2. The maximum number of characters is 63. Only numeric domains are allowed. A domain name may not end with a dash.
The issuing authority of .NL states that the registered domain names may not conflict with public order and/or good morals.
If you move a .NL domain to Milcraft, it will be registered for 1 year from the moment of move.
To move a domain with e-mail, for example, additional work must be carried out. These can be done for you for an additional charge.
After cancellation or transfer request without action, the domain will be quarantined for 40 days on the day of expiry. Only the owner can then remove the domain from quarantine.

When updating plugins and WordPress itself, the maintenance mode is activated for your WordPress website.

Fixing this is simple. Go to the root of the website with FTP or in Direct Admin and delete the file with the name .maintenance

Are you a Milcraft customer with a Managed WordPress Hosting or Managed WooCommerce Hosting package? Then this is our concern.
If a payment is incorrect, you can indicate this in the ticket system by creating a ticket.
We will check the payment and settle the amount against the outstanding invoices. If you pay too much and there are no outstanding invoices, we will refund the amount to your account within 14 days.

For legal reasons, invoices cannot be provided with the new company name retroactively.

Business customers are excluded from the right of withdrawal.

When you have WooCommerce webshop As with other online store CMS systems, it is best to use images that have a 1/1 ratio. In other words, the image has the same number of pixels in height as in width, for example 500 by 500 pixels.
Unfortunately, many suppliers and wholesalers do not take this into account and you will often receive photos that are a different size.
There are WordPress plugins to automatically convert images to 1/1, but it often works best (especially with a relatively limited number) to simply do this in Photoshop. You also have the freedom to adjust other things and compress the image, which improves the speed of the website.

Useful to know
- Set an image in the main menu Photoshop > Image >Image size at 72 pdi (pixels per inch)
- For a good display on 4k and Retina screens, always use images that are twice as large. If the image of the single product page is 2 x 500 pixels, you should use 500 x 1000 pixels for a good display on these screens. Is a photo smaller than 1000 x 1000 pixels
- Although images of products can be found freely, they may be subject to copyright. So don't just grab photos from other websites, but ask the supplier of your products for photos.

A basic rule is that logo files and icons are saved as .PNG and photo files as .JPEG.
There are situations where this is different of course, for example for a logo in the main menu that you can save as an SVG file if you have the options to use this.
In Photoshop there are also so-called “actions” or in English "Actions" possible to adjust the canvas of your images on your computer in batches.

Data traffic means: the amount of files in MB / GB that visitors download with your package. The more visitors and larger/heavier the website, the more data traffic this generates.
Most of the time you will only go over storage when using IMAP email (IMAP is a mail setting that allows phone and computer synchronization, and stores everything on the server.). Even for websites with many photos that are not optimized for the web, 2 GB of storage can be tight. The same applies to websites with web shops or many products. But we can always make adjustments here.
By default you have access to webmail at Milcraft. This webmail is running on Roundcube and can be reached via the URL http://www.hereyourdomainname.nl/roundcube.
Login
You can log in by using your full email address and password at the login screen.

When you switched to Milcraft you received a very strong password. We recommend that you use this for the security of your mailbox. Replace this password regularly with a new one. The advice is to do this every three months. Choose a password of equal strength as a new password.
A useful tool for keeping track of many and long passwords is KeePass.
If you still want to replace the password, you can do so in Roundcube settings > password. Please note that if you change the password in Roundcube, it will also change for your mail client on your PC, laptop, tablet and/or telephone.
Basic functions Roundcube
Below is a screenshot of Roundcube's main screen. You will see this immediately after logging in.
- Overview of your emails. You can sort these by date and sender, among other things, by pressing date or sender above the column.
- Inbox: This is the main folder of your mail. All emails arrive here.
- Compose: Composes a new email.
- Junk E-mail: All e-mail that is marked as unwanted by the spam filter ends up here. Check this regularly because “good” emails may also end up there.
- Search: Here you can search all emails.
- Address book: Here you can save email addresses and mailing lists. Please note that this is a different address book than in Outlook, for example. It is possible to import email addresses into Roundcube.
- Settings: Here you can, among other things, create your password, create folder structures and adjust language settings.
- Mark: Here you can mark mail as read or unread, among other things.
Compose and send email
Formatting mail is very similar to the standard editor in WordPress and Word. Below is a screenshot with basic functions.
- The area where the text of the email can be placed
- The subject of the email
- The recipient: Enter the full email address here
- Cc: Here you enter the email addresses of people to whom you want to send a copy of the email. The recipient sees that you send these people a copy.
- Bcc: Here you enter the email addresses of people to whom you want to send a copy of the email. The receiver sees did not that you send these people a copy.
- Here you can choose between Plain text and HTML. In short, plain text is plain text and HTML is richly formatted.
- Here you can enter the priority of the email in question. If it is an email with standard priority, you can leave it unchanged.
- You can check this to receive a confirmation of receipt.
- You can add an attachment using the button. Consider a photo or PDF file.
- This button sends the email.
- Here you select which folder the email should be moved to after sending. You select this before you press send.
- Here you can select a contact person or mailing list to which you want to send the email.

It has been around for many years: people trying to cheat you out of money by sending invoices for things that you do not purchase from them or attempting to sell overpriced services.

Invoice for a non-purchased domain name
Which domain name is often not even listed.
For example, a domain name through us often costs less than €15, but these rogue parties will happily send an invoice of €100 or more.
By keeping the invoice as vague as possible, they hope that the invoice will pass inspection and be paid. The amount is often too low to really do anything with it in terms of taking steps.

Email that someone wants to claim a domain name with your company name
In this case, they send an email that someone else wants to claim a domain name with your company name in it.
So if you use the .nl domain name and you have also claimed the .com domain name (this is always recommended), they will send an email that someone wants to register the .net domain, for example.
Long story short, but they want to “give you the opportunity to record this with them”. This is often for 10 years and/or for a very high rate.
These types of emails are pure deception. You can usually register this domain name yourself. If you ignore the email, most likely nothing will happen.

The advice is to always forward such emails to us if in doubt, and certainly not to pay!
