You have probably already heard that as of 25 May 2018, the new European General Data Regulation (GDPR) comes into force.
This law replaces the Dutch Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp) and goes further than the Wbp in a number of areas.
An important change is that from this date, the Personal Data Authority is authorised to issue fines. This can amount to 4% of annual turnover with a maximum of €20 million. Something to seriously consider, then!
Your website & AVG
Milcraft can of course make your WordPress website (WooCommerce too, of course) AVG compliant for you. Making it AVG compliant means, among other things, placing a cookie notification (which blocks cookies until the user agrees), an agreement field in the existing contact forms and placement of a supplied privacy statement.
This privacy statement varies by company/industry and can be created, for example, on the Juridox website.
The Personal Data Authority has made a lot of information available online to help entrepreneurs prepare for the AVG, including a 10-step plan. More information and this step-by-step plan can be found at here.
