Visual Composer / WPBakery
Laying out pages can be a problem with websites. Text and photos are usually fine, but when things go further and the page has to be divided into blocks, a tedious time can arise.
By default in WordPress for years, there has been a visual editor (WYSIWYG). This one, especially for a blog post, has enough features to neatly place a text with pictures.
But especially if you want to fully customise pages, you soon come to a Drag & drop editor off. With WordPress, Visual Composer with over 500,000 downloads, is the best known and, according to many, the best.
Features
By default Visual Composer many options. For instance, in addition to the simple layout of pages with rows and blocks, there are many different elements that can be used. Think of text blocks, video blocks, blocks for images and sliders. In addition, there are more than 100 addons available. These are more extensive features for Visual Composer such as table creation or user-defined template management for pages and posts.
Although the plugin works very logically, explaining functions in text can become unnecessarily complicated. A video shows how Visual Composer works more clearly.
Advantages
- Anyone can create and maintain pages
- Many options (40+) and many addons (100+) available
- Convenient option to turn a page into a template/sheet and use it as a basis for other pages.
- Customer service is quick and helpful.
- Works with most of today's templates. Only older templates may still give compatibility problems.
- Responsive
Cons
- The page's description tag can contain code instead of text. Always manually enter a discription tag on pages where VC has been used.
- Sometimes template updates can cause Visual Composer to not work properly. This can usually be fixed with an update.
- Should you ever want to switch to a website without Visual Composer or another editor, you should note that all texts are in the VC code.
- If a template includes Visual Composer, it is usually part of a bulk licence. Updating is then usually not possible from within WordPress itself. The creator of the template usually provides the latest version or has a download option.
Price
At the time of writing this piece, the plugin is €31 for a regular licence. This is enough for one website. Often the more complete templates come with a licence that is part of a bulk licence.
Conclusion
With Visual Composer, you have a very complete Drag & Drop editor on your website that makes maintaining your website extremely easy. Because there are a few small areas for improvement, this plugin just fails to achieve 5 stars.

If so, please contact us at info@milcraft.nl or us contact form.
Milcraft uses for all websites built templates in combination with WordPress and additional plugins. In our opinion, the use of templates is the perfect solution to build a website at relatively low cost that is not inferior in quality or even better than a custom-made solution. This working method ultimately saves you, the website owner, a lot of money.
