WPML
WPML is a translation plugin for WordPress and has 400,000+ users. The plugin offers the ability to translate pages, posts, templates, plugins and more through a clear interface.
The plugin has many good basic options like a well-settable language selection menu, string translation, WooCommerce support, multi-user translation.
Create a translation of page or message at the touch of a button.
For each existing page or blog post, an additional box is shown with the other languages that can be used/set. Pressing the plus there creates a page variant of the Dutch page. Using the import button, the Dutch text including structure (also Visual Composer layouts, for example) can then be imported. These can then easily be translated. Please note that links and references to blog posts, for example, must also be adapted.
Translation/multilingualisation of websites and content is always a big job.
But by combining translation using .po and .pot files, string translation and the possibility of manually adapting different versions of pages, translation of static and dynamic texts is at least a lot less complicated.
In addition, WPML also makes it possible to translate the entire admin panel. Useful if you have users, WooCommerce customers or admins who do not speak the website language.

Cons
- Certain sections, such as widget texts, MUST be translated from English. This means that if these are created in Dutch, they must first be translated to English as a base and then back to Dutch.
- The template used for the website should be WPML-certified to avoid problems.
- Because everything can be translated, the plugin can appear complex.
- All links pointing to Dutch urls should be changed to the urls of the other versions of the pages.
Price
The plugin comes in 3 packages:
- €29 for the basic version. With this version, simply put, not everything can be translated
- €79 for a full version in combination with an annual renewal of €39 for updates and support
- €199 for the full version, but without the annual renewal fee
Conclusion
With WPML, you get the plugin for multilingual websites. Other (free) plugins simply do not offer enough features, compatibility and/or functionality to provide a good alternative.
